1769: The birth of Napoléon Bonaparte
1983, December 1st: Café Napoléon starts its business. We distribute coffee, provide coffee break services and we buy our coffees from reputable roasting houses.
1984: Development of the Café Napoléon brand. Our main clients are restaurants and coffee shops within the greater Montreal region. Even with American giants as our competitors, we succeed in carving out a niche in the marketplace and grow a loyal clientele who recognize and appreciate our expertise.
1993: First factory of 3000 square feet, comprising state-of-the-art new equipment designed to maximize the aroma and flavour of our coffees.
1994: Our brand strengthens its reputation. Various distributers/coffee service providers choose Napoleon Coffee for its high quality roasts.
1995: To respond to ever-increasing demand, we add three additional production lines.
1997: The popularity of our coffees requires the acquisition of new space equivalent to three condos to allow expansion of the factory, which thus becomes four times bigger than the previous one.
1999: Opening of a distribution centre in Quebec City.
2000: Continued growth of the business necessitates scaling up of production and storage facilities by approximately 50%.
2000: TransFair Canada establishes our first certification for fair trade coffee.
2003: Québec Vrai establishes our first certification of organic coffee.
2003: Café Napoléon is a finalist for the Sirius Prize, awarded by the ARQ (Quebec Association of restaurant owners), which recognizes excellence among suppliers in the restaurant, hotel and institutional sectors.
2004: Acquisition of a second thermal roaster for gourmet, organic and fair trade coffees.
2006: Unio Grand Prize winner - Business of the year, awarded by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Southwest Montreal.
2007: Launch of striking new package designs as well as new flavours for gourmet, organic and fair trade coffees. These new products allow us greater visibility in fine grocery stores and bistros.
2009: Launch of our new website which is designed to bring us closer to the consumer and our various client sectors, such as coffee at work, bistros and fine grocery stores.
Ranging from 15 to 85, the Napoléon Rating, grades each of our blends based on three specific criteria:
